Face of the day: Extra touches

When I'm on autopilot with my makeup, it's foundation, blush, brow pencil, mascara and maybe winged eyeliner. (Is applying winged eyeliner in 30 seconds a marketable skill? It should be.)

But sometimes I like to step things up. Like with a black and gray matte smoky eye! Everyone's into contouring right now, which has never been my forte, but in the interest of trend studies, I've been experimenting. Instead of buying an expensive contouring palette I'd rarely use, I bought a chubby cream concealer pencil at the drugstore in a darker shade. I use it on top of my foundation and smooth it out with a Beautyblender.

I've also been stepping up my brow game. I usually just fill in sparse areas because I'm scared of that drawn-in, cartoonish look. But I've started outlining the bottom of my brows, drawing a line from the top of the arch and meeting it with the bottom line in a point, and filling in the rest. It still looks natural but much more sophisticated and shaped.
